Hydrogen and synthetic gases have been enjoying growing demand for the past several years. Hydrogen is a mainstay of several industries, while synthetic gases (hydrogen- and CO-rich gas mixtures) are fundamental raw materials used to make petrochemicals.
These gases are commonly produced from natural gas using the steam methane reforming process. KOBELCO’s three primary compressor types (screw, centrifugal, and reciprocating) are used for PSA (pressure swing absorption) processes commonly used to increase the purity of produced hydrogen. Screw and centrifugal compressors are also used to compress synthetic gases.
As a way to combat global warming and other environmental problems, researchers have recently been studying and demonstrating methods enabling hydrogen and a number of other gases to be produced with little (or no) CO2 emissions. KOBELCO works daily on solving issues of global concern by partnering with clients and users to propose compressor-based solutions.
