Compressor segment

The compressor equipment manufactured and supplied by KOBELCO is used to provide solutions everywhere, from offshore oil fields to urban hydrogen fueling stations. Our compressors are used in next-generation energy production, storage, transportation, and distribution processes, as well as by producers of industrial plastics. These compressors are helping users throughout the world achieve carbon neutrality.

CCS (carbon dioxide capture and storage) facilities (carbon-neutral)

A decarbonized society will require a number of different solutions, such as CCS facilities to separate, recover, and store CO2, CCU processes to make effective use of recovered CO2, and CO2 battery storage.

  • Compressors
  • Heat exchangers

Air separation units

Oxygen and nitrogen are used in production processes found in the steel industry and many other sectors. The air separation units used to separate these gases from the air need to be able to separate gases efficiently while consuming little power.

  • Compressors

Steel manufacturing plants

CO and CO2 gases are generated extensively by blast furnace work and other ironmaking processes. The desire to decarbonize the economy is generating growing interest in methods of recovering and reusing the carbon generated by these processes, along with direct-reduction ironmaking.

  • Heat exchangers

Petrochemical plants

Chemical plants supply a lot of the consumer products used in our lives. While chemicals are refined from oil-derived ethylene or from propylene and its derivatives, the demand to decarbonize society is seeing a growing shift away from oil-based raw materials.

  • Compressors
  • Heat exchangers

Oil refineries

The oil that is essential in our lives is highly contaminated with impurities when it first comes out of the ground. It needs to be refined and reformed to turn it into useful products such as gasoline and engine oil.

  • Heat exchangers

Gas separation/gas processing facilities

Natural gas contains hydrocarbons along with hydrogen, helium, and other valuable resources that underpin a number of different industries. These resources need to be efficiently separated and refined to high levels of purity while keeping CO2 emissions low.

  • Compressors
  • Heat exchangers

Power plants

Modern power generation comes in a variety of forms that include thermal, hydroelectric, geothermal, and biomass generation. Since renewable energy sources such as wind and solar are limited by the time of day and climate conditions, technology for storage batteries in large capacity shall be developed more.

  • Compressors
  • Heat exchangers

LNG terminals

Kobe Steel vaporizers and compressors are used in liquefaction plants and LNG terminals. Liquefaction plants refine and liquefy natural gas to produce liquefied natural gas (LNG). LNG terminals receive LNG and use seawater as a heat source to vaporize it for pipeline transport.

  • Compressors
  • Heat exchangers

LNG carriers

A lot of vessels are fueled by LNG as a way to keep CO2 emissions low while at sea. LNG carriers require compressors and heat exchangers. The boil-off gas generated in the tanks is supplied to the engines by the compressors, while LNG fuel is vaporized by the heat exchangers.

Offshore facilities

Marine oil and gas development rigs, LNG vaporization facilities, and other plants built on vessels have unique and tough requirements and restrictions. These plants need advanced technological capabilities, while higher levels of reliability and robustness are required for products.

  • Heat exchangers

Hydrogen fueling stations

The demand for FCV will be growing to achieve a decarbonized society. Hydrogen refueling stations are infrastructure to supply FCVs with hydrogen, and a growing number of new stations are expected to be installed all over the world.

Hydrogen and ammonia facilities (carbon-neutral)

Hydrogen and ammonia are going to be next-generation energy resources that produce no CO2 emissions. These energy resources in a wide range of sectors, such as vehicles, power, and heavy industry will be required to create a decarbonized economy.
